Program Partner: Eugene

Program Partners like @nwyouthcorps receive grants from the Oregon Conservation Corps to hire youth for their crews throughout the state.

These crews help close the employment gap in the fire prevention and resource management industries throughout Oregon by creating opportunities for young people to develop skills for future employment.

“One person with a chainsaw can’t get much done,” says Alicia Rabideau, Community Wildfire Protection Corps Coordinator at Northwest Youth Corps. “But rolling up with 5-6 crew members, piling out of a truck and telling a homeowner, ‘We’re here for you for the next three days and we’re gonna do as much as we can.’ It’s so empowering!”

“There is a way to respond to wildfire, a path forward, and there are young people willing to do it,” says Alicia.

Help the Oregon Conservation Corps develop a workforce that’s ready to protect Oregon. The State is offering a 5-to-1 match, up to $1 million dollars, now through June 30, 2023.
